Our Story Time today is about each one of you girls and boys. You each ought to know why you are here, and what plan God has for your life.

The very moment you were born, the doctor slapped your bottom, and you made your first sound as a human being. What was that sound? It was crying. Did anyone understand what you wanted? No, but they certainly knew you were alive and that you needed nourishment and comfort right away.

As you are growing, you are beginning to learn words by which you can express yourself. People have told you that some of your very first words were, "Mama", "Da-da" and especially "NO".

Little by little, you have learned more words, and you are beginning to develop a VOCABULARY. Everything we say and do is the result of what we THINK. All of our thinking comes from our vocabulary, so if we want to learn worthwhile things and we want to make something of our lives in this world, we must learn more and more words to make our vocabulary grow.

I'm sure that your parents have been and are continually teaching you what they expect of you. Soon, you will learn to know the difference between what is right and what is wrong. In other words, you will understand the STANDARDS by which you should live that will make a good citizen of you as well as a decent human being.. All of this develops your God-given CONSCIENCE.

All your life you must keep on learning, because you cannot become a fine, useful adult without learning and applying what you learn and believe.

Some of the most important things you can learn are WORDS. Words make up your vocabulary, and with those words you will be able to read and to speak intelligently with other people. God's Words are found in the Bible, and He wants you to first of all believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins as your substitute. When you understand and believe that message from God, you become a child of God. or a Christian.

God wants all of His children to grow up and to live lives that will honor Him, and He has given His Word to us for a number of reasons that are listed in 2 Timothy 2:15-17, such as:

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, for INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS; that the man of God may be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all GOOD WORKS."

Some of the words In those verses are pretty big, and they may not make a lot of sense to you right now, so let me try to make them a little more plain to help you understand:

The original scriptures were inspired by God. He gave His word to us so that we may profit from His teaching, which is DOCTRINE. Then, so we can  learn to recognize the things we do and think that  are not pleasing to Him. He uses REPROOF,  or scolding.  Next He tries to CORRECT our  thoughts and actions by showing the right way to us. Last of all. He gave His Word to us so that those who have believed in Jesus Christ might learn the way of RIGHTEOUSNESS, which God calls GOOD WORKS.

DO YOU WANT TO PLEASE THE LORD? If you said. "Yes", you must keep on listening, learning and applying what God teaches to us in His word, which is the Bible.

"AS NEWBORN BABIES, DESIRE THE PURE MILK OF THE WORD.
THAT YOU MAY GROW IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE." ( 1 Peter 2:2 )
