Bible Question #5 |

 |
Why is THE LORD JESUS CHRIST . .
.
THE UNIQUE PERSON
OF THE UNIVERSE?
Each of the four Gospel accounts in the scriptures give
certain details about the 3-year earthly ministry of the Lord
Jesus Christ. John's gospel presents Him as God in flesh.
He has ALWAYS existed, and He is the CREATOR of the
universe. "All things were made by Him, and without Him was not
anything made that was made." (John 1 :1-3)
In Hebrews 1:10 we read, ''You Lord, in the beginning
laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of
your hands." |
Jesus Christ is called "THE WORD OF GOD":
"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His
glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace
and truth." (John 1 :14)
The Father loves the Son and has given ALL things into
His hands. He that believes on the Son has eternal life; and he who
believes not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains
on him." (John 3:36)
Jesus is declared to be the judge of all mankind: "For
the Father makes alive whom He wills, even so the Son makes alive whom
He wills. For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment
unto the Son, so that all should honor the Son, just as they honor the
Father." (John 5:21-23)
Jesus told some religious people of His day who did not
believe in Him, that He is THE ETERNAL GOD: "Jesus said to them,
verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I existed
eternally."
In John 1 0:30, Jesus made Himself equal with God the
Father when he said, "I and My Father are one." When people asked Him
to show the Father to them, Jesus replied, "He that has seen Me has
seen the Father." (John 14:9)
Jesus Christ is the only saviour of mankind. He said in
John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the
Father but through Me."
It is absolutely necessary for us to understand that
Jesus Christ is God and Man in one Person forever. He is undiminished
deity and true humanity in one person. All divine names and titles
apply to Him, such as: GOD; THE GREAT GOD OVER ALL; JEHOVAH; LORD;
KING OF KINGS; and LORD OF LORDS..
When we learn what Jesus Christ is like, we will know
what God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are like, because they all
have the same essence or characteristics which are: OMNISCIENCE (all
knowledge); OMNIPOTENCE (all powerful); OMNIPRESENCE (everywhere);
IMMUTABILITY (never changing); ETERNAL LIFE (no beginning. and no
ending); PERFECT LOVE (toward every member of the human race); PERFECT
RIGHTEOUSNESS (goodness); PERFECT JUSTICE (absolute fairness); and
VERACITY (absolute truth).
After His virgin birth, Jesus possessed a true human
body that grew and functioned normally. He became weary, He suffered
hunger, thirst and pain. He was able to enjoy pleasure and rest. He
suffered death, and He experienced resurrection. He had a human soul
and a human spirit; therefore, in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ
there are two natures that cannot be divided. The union is personal
and eternal. That union is called the Hypo-static Union in theology.
He is truly the God-Man.
The fact that Jesus Christ is eternal is assumed from
the very beginning of time, and only the divine revelation of Him in
the Word of God is to break through the barrier of time That is
something no philosopher has ever been able to conclude by using
either rationalism or empiricism. . In their investigation, they all
started with infinity and then came to a final conclusion which was:
"I think, therefore I exist."
1 Corinthians 2:16 tells us that "the Bible is the MIND
OF CHRIST." Therefore, if we want to know how He thinks, we must learn
and understand HIS WORD. The prophet Isaiah tells us: "For My thoughts
are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher
than your ways and my. thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8,9)
In eternity past, long before He created Adam, God the
Father made a sovereign decision to treat man in GRACE, which is
unmerited favor. None of us can ever earn or deserve the grace of God.
God the Father devised the plan of salvation for sinful
man whereby He would send His Son into the world to become true and
sinless humanity. Because Jesus had no sin of His own, He was
qualified to die on a cross as our substitute, and pay for the sins of
all mankind. Every sin that ever was or ever will be committed by a
member of the human race was judged on that cross more than two
thousand years ago.
In 2 Peter 2:1 we are told that Jesus died for those
who deny Him, and in 1 John 2:2 we read, "He is the propitiation
(satisfaction) for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the
sins of the whole world."
God the Father was satisfied with the work of His Son
on the cross, and anyone who believes in Jesus Christ can share His
Eternal Life.
