Skeletons in the closet
Past sins and failures are like skeletons
in the closet. If you open the closet door to look at them, you
will find something that is lifeless and extremely unattractive.
Those skeletons are like old sins that we
previously named to God the Father, but we still feel guilty
about. The Lord has forgiven you, even though there are some
things you may never forget. When you allow yourself to bring out
those skeletons and rattle their bones, you can easily be
distracted from God's plan and purpose for your life, and the sin
of guilt must now be dealt with by the use of 1 John 1:9 so you
may be restored to fellowship with the lord.
God tells us in Isaiah 38:17b that He has
cast all our past sins behind His back. Again in Isaiah 43:25 the
Lord says He has completely forgotten our past sins ... He can't
even remember what they were. Then in Isaiah 44:22, the Lord says
He has blotted out the memory of the sins we have confessed. |
