Are you in the dark?
Darkness can be scary, but you don't have
to stay in the dark and be afraid. God's Word can light your way
if you allow it to do so. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your Word is a lamp
unto my feet and a light unto my path." The Word of God can show
you where you are and in which direction He wants you to go. When
you learn to concentrate upon what the Lord has to say to you, you
will find His special purpose for your life.
First of all, you need to focus your
attention upon the Word of God by listening to good teaching from
a prepared man who knows the original languages of scripture and
has the gift of Pastor Teacher. Then after you believe and
understand what is taught, you must apply what you have learned,
and soon you will be able to live your life in a way that's
pleasing to the Lord.
Every one of us is born with a body and a
soul, but we cannot know God nor can we understand His Word,
because we are born spiritually dead. John 4:24 says, "God is
Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and
in truth." |
|
We are born alive to the world and dead to God, but God provided a
perfect solution to the problem of spiritual death when He sent His
Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to pay the penalty for sin. Jesus
died as a substitute for you and for me when He hung on a cross more
than 2,000 years ago, and now by a simple act of faith in Him, your
human spirit will be made alive, and God the Holy Spirit will be free
to teach you the things of God. How do we
come out of darkness and find the light of God? Psalm 119:30 gives the
answer to us through many scriptures: 'The entrance of Your Word gives
light"; 'The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?"
(Psalm 27:1); 'The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be
afraid?" (Psalm 56:3); "In God have I put my trust. I will not be
afraid of what man can do to me." (Psalm 56:11)
What if people will not come to the light?
Jesus answered that question for us when He said, "Light has come into
the world, and men love darkness rather than light, because their
works are evil. Everyone who loves evil, hates the light and will not
come to it, because they don't want to be corrected." (John 3:19,20)
Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light
of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall
have the light of life."
If you have never personally believed in
Jesus Christ as your saviour, come to the light now and share His
eternal life.
